Lutz partnered with Sam Teitelbaum at third doubles for an 8-6 victory.
Hamline was edged out in the other two doubles matches, as David Croonquist and Kyle Helgemoe lost a 6-8 match at second while Robert Becker and Bernard Mitambo were defeated 5-8 at first.
Lutz went on to win in a third-set super breaker at sixth singles, 6-2, 6-7, 10-8. Croonquist won Hamline's third match at first singles, 7-5, 6-4.
At second singles, Becker lost 2-6, 7-5, 8-10 and Mitambo battled back after dropping the first set, but also fell in the super-break, 3-6, 6-0, 8-10.
At fourth singles, Helgemoe lost 1-6, 6-1, 7-10 and Teitelbaum was edged out at fifth, 6-3, 2-6, 5-10.
Hamline is now 7-6, 2-2 MIAC and St. Olaf is 5-4, 4-2 MIAC. The Pipers will play on Saturday, April 9, at St. Thomas. The match is scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m. and will be played on the campus of St. Paul Academy and Summit School.
