Highly regarded for its intimate, warm ambience and recording-quality acoustics, the 325-seat performance hall is a much sought after venue for recitals, chamber music concerts and lectures.
Sundin Music Hall is air-conditioned, humidity-controlled, and handicap accessible. The acoustics were designed to maximize sound quality while offering a feeling of intimacy. The stage area both enables performers to clearly hear one another, while protecting sound within the hall.
Located on the Hamline University campus at 1531 Hewitt Avenue, St. Paul, Sundin Music Hall is adjacent to a newly renovated rehearsal space and private practice rooms. The facility amenities include digital recording equipment, a seven-foot Steinway piano, a nine-foot Yamaha concert grand piano, and orchestral and percussion equipment.
Regular performances by the Hamline University Department of Music Ensembles (A Cappella Choir, Women's Chorale, Classical Winds, Orchestra and Jazz) are scheduled each year. Manyof the Twin Cities arts organizations consider Sundin Music Hall their preferred concert venue.
Sundin Music Hall is home to both the Minnesota International Piano-e-Competition and the St. Paul String Quartet Competition.
