Configure a proxy user in Groupwise

You can share your groupwise mailbox and calendar with a groupwise's feature called Proxy User. When you create a "Proxy user", this user will be able to read your mailbox, read your appointments in the calendar or even create appointments in your behalf.

The creation of a proxy user is a two stages process. In one side, the owner of the mailbox has to configure the system in order to give access to another user. On the other hand, the user that receive the privileges has to configure his or her groupwise client to see the other user's mailbox.

Giving another user access to you mailbox and Calendar

First let's describe how to configure your groupwise client to grant another user access to your mailbox or calendar.

Inside your Groupwise client go to the Tools menu and select "Options"..

As a result of this action another menu with different choices will appear on your screen. From this menu press the "security" button.

Once you press the security button, and dialog box with several options will open. From this dialog Box select "Proxy Access". From here you will be able to select to which user you want to grant access to your mailbox or calendar.

You can add the user writing his or her name in the text box that says "Name:". If you do not know the login name of the person that you want to add, you can use the address book (pressing the botton besides the Name: text box) and select the user from there.

Once that you have selected the username you have to decide the rights that you want to give to this user. The option are pretty simple. You can give read access, that will allow the proxy user to only read your mail or see your appointments. You have the option to give write rights to the proxy user too. If the proxy user have write access, he or she will be able to erase email(s) from your mailbox, and able to create appointments in your calendar.

You can repeat the operation to add as many proxy users as you want. Once that all the user(s) are added to the list just press the OK button to finish the process.

Accessing other user's mailbox and Calendar

If you are another person proxy user, you are able to access to that person mailbox or Calendar.

Once inside your groupwise client, select the file Menu and from there select the "Proxy" Option. Once selected, you will see a dialog box with a list of all the user that gave you proxy access to their mailboxes and/or calendars.

From the Dialog box just select a name from the list and press OK. After this you will see that user mailbox, or calendar.

Remeber you will be able to see the object where you have "READ" access, and you will be able to modify, delete or create those objects where you have "WRITE" access.
