Commonly Used Internal E-mail Lists (and when to use them!)

announcements@hamline.edu
This list includes all faculty, staff, and students. It is used only to distribute Inside Hamline Digest and for select communications from the president. It is an opt-out list.

all-employees@hamline.edu
This list includes all faculty and staff (full-time, part-time, adjunct, contractors). It should be reserved for emergency communication or select communications from the president. It is a mandatory list and should therefore be used sparingly.

all-employees-announce@hamline.edu
This list includes all faculty and staff (full-time, part-time, adjunct, contractors). It is used for Inside Hamline Daily and communications from Human Resources. It is an opt-out list.

employee-benefits@hamline.edu
This list includes only benefits-eligible faculty and staff members. It is owned and used by Human Resources for benefits communication. Benefits information should not be sent to any other list. It is an opt-out list.

all-faculty@hamline.edu
This list includes all faculty, of all types, in all schools. It is owned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs and used by that office for announcements pertaining to faculty. It is a mandatory list and should therefore be used sparingly.

all-fulltime-faculty@hamline.edu
This list includes all full-time faculty (excludes adjuncts or contractors) in all schools. It is owned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs and used by that office for announcements pertaining only to full-time faculty. It is a mandatory list and should therefore be used sparingly.

all-staff@hamline.edu
This list includes staff (full-time, part-time, contractors). It is used occasionally by Human Resources. It is a mandatory list and should therefore be used sparingly.

on-campus@hamline.edu
This list includes all staff who work on the Saint Paul campus, all faculty teaching (refreshes every academic term) on the Saint Paul campus, and all students (in all school) who either live in the residence halls or houses or are taking a course on the Saint Paul campus, refreshing every term. It is a mandatory list and should therefore be used sparingly.

This is the list that snow-plowing, campus closing, security alerts, and other messages related to the physical Saint Paul campus should be sent. It is a mandatory list. Do not send this type of messages to any of the announcements or “all” type lists as those lists include students and faculty in the learning communities across Minnesota, the Minneapolis Center, and others who are not affected by issues pertaining only to the Saint Paul campus.

degree-seeking-students@hamline.edu
This list includes all degree- and licensure-seeking students in all schools. This list should be used only with emergency or vital communication needs to go to students only. If the information is for any sub-group of students (e.g. just CLA or just law), the appropriate school list should be used. It is owned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs and used by Student Administrative Services. It is a mandatory list and should therefore be used sparingly.
