E-mail Guide

This e-mail guide has been designed to keep you updated on the latest changes in Hamline University e-mail policies and to help you navigate through the occasionally confusing world of e-mail lists, accounts, and procedures.

You’ll find background information about some of the problems that have led to our new policies as well as a step-by-step guide to using mass e-mail messages effectively.

We hope it is helpful and encourage you to send us your feedback

Mandatory Hamline e-mail account use began in 2005.

The mandatory use of official Hamline e-mail (GroupWise for employees and Netmail for students) accounts began August 1, 2005.

You are responsible for any message sent to you at your Netmail or GroupWise account. Make it a habit to check the account often and maintain your inbox. Many official university notices will be sent only via e-mail.

This is in response to the spam and blacklist problems Hamline experienced in January. This change allows Hamline greater protection against future blacklisting. It also allows Hamline to more easily ensure delivery of messages, diagnose delivery problems, and report and prevent spam.
