The Circle of Excellence is an on-going leadership development program whose mission is to introduce and support students as they discover and develop their individual leadership skills. The program is comprised of four distinct levels of leadership development:
Level 1: The Emerging Leader
Level 2: The Involved Leader
Level 3: The Empowered Leader
Level 4: The Inspired Leader
Participants earn a certificate for each completed level and pursue the levels at their own pace.
Level 1: The Emerging Leader
During the Level 1 experience, participants will develop a higher level of self awareness, discover their own personal definition of leadership, and explore leadership integrity. Workshops for Level 1 would include topics that cover Cross Cultural Awareness, Values Clarification, Critical Thinking and Stress Management.
Level 2: Involved Leader
The Level 2 experience provides opportunities for participants to develop community building skills. Workshops for Level 2 could include topics that cover Vision Development, Communication Skills, Problem Solving and Conflict Management.
Level 3: Empowered Leader
Level 3 continues to build on the skills developed during levels 1 and 2. During this level, participants will explore civic responsibility, learn how to empower others and organization assessment.
Level 4: Inspired Leader
The final level of the Circle of Excellence program gives participants the opportunity to reflect on their leadership development and plan their next step. Students at this level will learn how to apply and market their leadership experiences. Students will also gain experience in mentoring and small group facilitation. |
