Nominate Candidates for Volunteer & Advocate of the Year Awards

Outstanding Advocate for Change Award

Hamline student advocates are inspired and motivated to promote change in this community and the world through activities and ideas.  By continually advocating ideas and methods for change around us, they contribute greatly to our community and inspire others to become active members in the process of bettering society.  They devote time, energy, and passion to causes and initiate and continue important change.

This special type of dedication to advocacy is being recognized through an award for the Outstanding Advocate for Change.  The recipient of this award will be given an inspirational book and money to be donated to the organization of their choice.  All nominees will be publicly recognized!

Criteria for Nominees:

  • Take steps to inform others of situations that they believe are unjust or unfair and which require action to better people’s lives, the particular situation, or the world;
  • Display a firm dedication to ideals and goals for change;
  • Be an active leader who facilitated change, encouraging others to join her or him;
  • Understand the need to complement service by initiating systemic change;
  • Work well with multiple communities and other students in order to reach goals;
  • Be an excellent student leader who involves the Hamline community with other communities in the effort to improve our society;
  • Mentor other students!
  • Create results through activism of any sort and promote awareness of the issue and its solutions.

Selection committee comprised of one student, one staff member, and one faculty member will choose the recipient of the award.

Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award

Many Hamline students spend time giving to others. We at the Office of Service Learning and Volunteerism (OSLV) would like to applaud these people.

Do you know anyone who continually acts for the betterment of the greater community?  Someone who is continually dedicated to the service of others?

Now is your chance to recognize them!  The Outstanding Volunteer will receive an inspirational book and a monetary gift to donate to the organization of their choice.  All nominees will be publicly appreciated!

Criteria for Nominees:

  • Demonstrate outstanding leadership ability volunteering in the greater community;
  • Show commitment to diversity and/or community initiatives;
  • Work cooperatively with other community programs and organizations;
  • Balance academic and co-curricular leadership;
  • Motivate and inspire others to be passionate about service;
  • Go above and beyond the call of duty to create results;
  • Recognize community assets and needs in contrast to individualism;
  • Continually work for the betterment of the greater community.
