Internships

Internships are a wonderful way to gain experience, get credit, and fulfill your Big “W” LEAD requirement at the same time.  Ideally, students should do two internships during their time at Hamline: an exploratory internship sophomore year and a more structured internship junior or senior year.

The Hamline internship program is designed to help students apply classroom learning, build skills, test career interests, gain confidence and obtain resume-building experience, all of which translates into job readiness. Recent surveys by the National Association of Colleges and Employers show that new college grads with related experience are rated more highly by employers and earn higher salaries.

INROADS

INROADS is a unique internship experience that allows minority youth to intern with Fortune 1000 companies while getting paid.  Founded in Chicago by Frank Carr in 1970, INROADS has demonstrated that two historically isolated segments of American society -- the business and minority communities -- can cooperate to achieve a common goal.  INROADS has grown to 53 affiliate cities throughout the United States; Mexico City, Mexico; and Toronto, Canada with more than 5,000 students in the College and Pre-College Components, more than 17,000 graduates, and over 700+ client corporations.  INROADS has received the U. S. Department of Labor’s LIFT Award in recognition of initiatives that enhance the quality of the American work force and been selected as one of “America’s Top 10 Internships.”
