On-Campus Recruiting

Our goal is to help employers connect with talented Hamline students in order to create successful working relationships.  We are committed to providing professional career services to assist you in this process.

We offer several ways for you to recruit on-campus including tabling, information sessions and interviewing.

Tabling

We provide opportunities to set up a table or a display in our highly trafficked student center during the academic year. This allows you to promote yourself with many students as they are passing through the building. You will see the most student traffic around lunch time. Please contact us directly to discuss this option.

Information Session

Throughout the academic year, you may choose to present information about your organization and the opportunities you have available to a group of interested students. We can assist you in working out the details.

Interviewing

You may interview on campus during fall and spring semesters. To schedule a recruiting date, contact Terry Middendorf at 651-523-2302. We encourage you to schedule early to receive the date of your choice.

Types of schedules - We will do what we can to accommodate your scheduling needs.  When selecting an interview date, you may choose an "open" schedule or a "pre-selected" schedule.  The open schedule will allow any qualified student to sign up for an interview with your organization.  For pre-selected schedules, we will furnish you with résumés of interested students and you will select those you wish to interview.  You should then notify the selected students and have them contact the CDC to arrange a specific interview time.  We ask that you provide the CDC with a copy of your pre-selected list.  We will provide you with a copy of your interview schedule prior to your campus visit.

Registration forms - Once you have spoken with Terry to arrange an on-campus interview date, we will email or fax you a recruiting registration form to complete. This information will be provided to students and is crucial in attracting students to interview with your organization. We will also ask you to sign a non-discrimination form.

Campus visit - You will receive parking information and a map prior to your visit.  A typical interview schedule will consist of half-hour interviews.  If you would like hour-long interviews, please let us know when you select your interview date.  The CDC opens at 8:00 am; the first interview of the day can start as early as 8:15 and the last interview at 4:15.  Two breaks will be scheduled, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  Lunch will be scheduled between 11:30 and 1:00.

When you arrive, one of our staff members will direct you to an interview room and provide you with a packet containing your interview schedule, résumés of the students on your schedule, and interview evaluations.

Follow up - We ask that you keep us informed of our students' status with your organization (second interviews, offers, and hires).

Emergency closing - If the University is closed due to severe weather, the CDC will be closed as well.  Please contact us the next working day to reschedule your visit to campus.
