Preparing Our Students
At Hamline University, we understand how important it is to prepare our students to enter the workplace. We know the significant resources you devote to screening, hiring and training new employees. That's why you'll find interns and job candidates from Hamline who not only meet your basic qualifications but also have a broad business and societal perspective. They accept and affirm other people, cultures and ideas, and have strong communication and problem solving skills to quickly make positive contributions to your organization.
Our Curriculum
Hamline University, Minnesota's first university, connects educational goals with the qualities students need for success: a broad knowledge base, the ability to analyze and solve problems, well-developed written and oral communication skills, and an ability to understand and appreciate diversity. Our liberal arts curriculum exposes students to many disciplines and provides ample opportunities to build their critical thinking skills. In addition, Hamline students learn the importance of individual initiative, as well as the ability to successfully work in team environments--all qualities you seek in prospective employees.
The Proof
We work closely with area employers to gauge the real world applicability of our curriculum and to insure our students are meeting the demands of the workplace. We know that our students compete for some of the most demanding jobs in the country. Recruiters and alumni tell us our graduates are prepared to meet the challenges in the workplace. We also gain insight about our students' performance through our internship program, which gives students an opportunity to apply their coursework to the workplace. When employer feedback reveals a need for new skill sets, we refine our curricula and graduation standards to incorporate those best practices.
