Practice Interview Program Information for Interviewers
Think back two, five, ten, twenty, thirty years ago to your first professional interview.
- Where was it?
- Who was it with?
- Were you nervous?
- Were you prepared?
- Did you get the job?
- What do you wish you knew then that you know now?
Now is your chance to share your sage advice on interviewing with Hamline students.
The purpose of Practice Interview Program (PIP) is to provide students the opportunity to develop and practice interviewing skills essential for success in today's competitive job market.
Based on student evaluations, PIP is having a significant impact on improving students' inteview skills, their sense of career and vocation, and appreciation on the skills they are developing in their major. Students are also gaining confidence in interviewing and are able to better articulate how their liberal arts education and skills will serve them in their chosen professional setting.
The role of the Interviewer is to provide a “real” interview experience, give constructive interview feedback, provide a resume critique, and offer career advice to students so they can continue to develop their skills.
The program takes place twice a year during Fall and Spring terms. During the practice interview session, volunteers lead students through typical screening interviews and provide feedback on each student’s performance and their resume.
To sign up to volunteer for the Practice Interview Program, please fill out the Interviewer Registration Form and submit it to Career Development Center. We will contact you when the event date gets closer. If you have questions about the PIP or other CDC programs feel free to contact the Career Development Center any time.
