Kelly joined the CDC in August 2008 and will be a graduate intern while she finishes her studies in the Masters program in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology at the University of Minnesota. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from Carleton College. Kelly is thrilled to continue working with college students, after serving for two years as an America Reads Coordinator at the University of Minnesota, supervising students in the literacy tutoring work at Saint Paul sites.
Sherrie Fernandez-Williams, Bridges Program Director
Sherrie Fernandez-Williams joined the CDC staff in July 2008. She earned a BA in Organizational Studies at Bethel College (currently Bethel University) and an MFA in Writing from Hamline University with a focus in creative nonfiction. She worked three years in the office of Academic Affairs at the University of St. Thomas in support of the Executive Vice President. Prior to that, she was an advisor to graduate and adult returning students at Bethel. Sherrie has a special interest in personal storytelling as a means of self-discovery and healing.
Lauren Kavan, Internship Program Director
Lauren joined the CDC staff in March 2006. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from Macalester College and her M.A. in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology from the University of Minnesota. Lauren has prior experience working with college students as an Ombudsman at the University of Minnesota's Student Conflict Resolution Center and as a Graduate Intern at Macalester College's Career Development Center.
Rich Manke, Director
With over 18 years experience in collegiate career services, Rich has been Director of Hamline's Career Development Center since 1987. He also has experience in corporate training and development, advertising sales and self-employment. He has held a variety of leadership positions with the Minnesota Private Colleges Job Fair, Minnesota Private College Visibility Committee. On campus he has chaired the campus staff association and served on the University Council. Rich earned a Bachelor of General Studies degree from Wartburg College and a Masters in Human Relations from Pacific Lutheran Universit
Janaya Martin, Programming & Events Coordinator
Janaya joined the CDC team in September 2004. Before joining the CDC, Janaya worked as a Program/Office Assistant for the Mounds View Schools Family Learning Program, an adult basic education program (ABE) for individuals with children looking to obtain a high school diploma or GED.
Terry Middendorf, Associate Director
Terry joined the CDC in August 1998. His experience includes 9 years at the University of Minnesota-Carlson School of Management. He has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Minnesota-Morris and an M.A. in Counseling from Northeast Missouri State University. His areas of expertise include employer relations, job search issues/strategies, and program development. Previous positions include Counselor/Internship Coordinator, Qualified Rehabilitation Consultant, and Job Placement Specialist.
Joan Ostergren, Senior Career Counselor
Joan has been a part-time career counselor at the Career Development Center since 1995. Prior to that, she worked at the University of Minnesota. She earned a B.A. in Religion from Carleton College, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the Counseling and Student Personnel Program at the University of Minnesota. She is a licensed psychologist and works part time in a private practice in addition to her work at Hamline University.
Oyuna Uranchimeg, Office Coordinator
Oyuna joined the staff in August 2002. She is originally from Mongolia and she has a B.A. degree in Management & Economics from the National University of Mongolia. In the past she has been working as an Interpreter back in her country. She is fluent in English, Russian and Mongolian languages. Before joining the Career Development Center Oyuna worked at H&R Block tax services as an Office Coordinator.
