1. Gather the following documents
- Federal income tax returns for 2007
W-2 forms for 2007
- Records of untaxed benefits received for 2007
- Current bank statements
- Records of other savings and investments, such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds (do not include retirement or pension accounts).
- 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) from your high school guidance office or apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov
2. Complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, 2008. We encourage you and your parents to complete your 2007 Federal tax forms before filing the FAFSA. Hamline's priority deadline for filing the FAFSA is March 1. Admitted students who file a FAFSA by March 1 receive priority for both need-based financial aid and Hamline scholarships. If you file the FAFSA after March 1, please complete the form as soon as possible. Remember to list Hamline's federal school code, 002354, as a recipient of your FAFSA analysis.
If you have unusual circumstances you want us to know, please e-mail Hamline University to request a "special circumstance" form.
If the federal government selects you for a process called verification, you must also submit a 2008-2009 Financial Aid Verification Worksheet and signed copies of 2007 federal tax returns.
