New Look Laser Tattoo Removal Scholarships – November 30, 2009

This merit-based scholarship is open to students pursing higher education with an emphasis in one of the following fields: nursing, medicine, natural or applied sciences, or engineering. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be enrolled or plan to be enrolled in an accredited college or university in Fall 2009 or Spring 2010. Soroptimist International Women’s Opportunity Award – Deadline December 15, 2009

This program provides financial support to women who serve as the primary wage earners for their families. The award can be used to offset costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education or additional skills and training. Eligibility: Be a woman with primary financial responsibility for supporting your family. Recipients must also be attending or have been accepted to a vocational/skills training program, or an undergraduate degree program, have financial need, and motivated to achieve your educational and career goals. The Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship is open to 9th-12th grade high school students, college students or graduate school students who are legal U.S. residents. Foreclosure.com Scholarship – December 31, 2009

The Foreclosure.com Scholarship Program encourages students to offer innovative ideas and solutions to “solve the foreclosure crisis” in the form of an essay. Essay submissions must be between 1,000 and 2,500 words and all accepted freshman and enrolled under-graduate and graduate students are eligible to apply. Talbots Charitable Foundation, Inc – Deadline January 2, 2010

This scholarship fund was created for women looking to pursue a college education later in life. Recipient must be a woman residing in the US or Canada, have earned HS Diploma or GED on or before September 2000 and be enrolled in an undergraduate course of study receiving your degree no earlier than May 2011. Phillips Scholars – Hamline deadline February 5, 2010

Scholarship is open to current sophomores (2009-2010 academic year) who are committed to community service, have a 2.75 GPA or higher, and wish to design and implement your own community service project. The goal of this APS scholarship is to increase the number of under-represented minorities obtaining degrees in physics. It provides funding and mentoring to minority physics students to enhance their education and help them prepare for success in various careers. Recipients must be a high school senior or college freshman. Recipients must be physically challenged and may be “chair-confined”. This scholarship is open to undergraduate students at colleges and universities in the US. ACS awards renewable scholarships to underrepresented minority students who want to enter the fields of chemistry or chemistry-related fields. Awards are based on academic standing, financial need, career objective, leadership skills, and involvement in school activities and community service. Gates Millennium Scholarship

The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS), funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was established in 1999 to provide outstanding low income African American, American Indian/Alaska Natives, Asian Pacific Islander American*, and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education in any discipline area of interest. Continuing GMS Scholars may request funding for a graduate degree program in one of the following discipline areas: education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health or science. The goal of GMS is to promote academic excellence by providing thousands of outstanding students, who have significant financial need, the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Eligibility: Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they: are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American, are a citizen/legal permanent resident or national of the United States, have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a 4.00 scale (unweighted) at the time of nomination, will be entering a U.S. accredited college or university as full-time, degree seeking freshmen in the Fall of 2007, have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities, an d meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria. Have all three required forms (Nominee Personal Information Form, Nominator Form, and Recommender Form) completed and submitted by the deadline. General Board of Higher Education and Ministry

The United Methodist Scholarship Program is a church-wide educational service providing scholarships to help supplement the financial needs of today’s students. Funding for these scholarships is provided through Special Sundays Offerings, wills, annuities and other designated gifts. Students need to complete only one application each year. Applications are reviewed by members of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM) and other affiliated representatives. Scholarship applications are accepted January 1 - May 15 each year. Awards are determined by July. Payment of scholarship awards are made after the Scholarship Office has received a verification of enrollment at a college or university for the Fall term. James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation

Junior Fellowships; awarded to students who are about to complete, or have recently completed, their undergraduate course of study and intend to pursue full-time graduate work. Senior Fellowships; awarded to experienced teachers who want to pursue graduate studies on a part-time basis through summer and evening classes. Applicants for a fellowship must be: a U.S. citizen or U.S. national; and a teacher, or planning to be a teacher of American history, American government, or social studies at the secondary school level.

This is an online directory of scholarships across the United States that provides for Latino students.  The directory is searchable by key categories and organized such as sponsoring organization, grade level, minimum grade point average (GPA), citizenship requirements, deadline, and state/regional awards.  It also contains directions for applying to scholarships in Spanish and English.  The directory contains all organizations in the United States identified by Tomas Rivera Policy Institute (TRPI) that awards grants and scholarships specifically targeting Latino students. MET Program

The MET program is for students or dependent children of people who work in agriculture or a slaughterhouse. Students must apply and be accepted prior to the beginning of the semester. The fundamental objective of MET's migrant and seasonal farm worker program is permanent unsubsidized employment in an occupation that pays a sustainable wage and allows the individual to advance in both earnings and responsibility as the client's tenure and skill set increase. Minnesota Achieve Scholarship

The Minnesota Achieve Scholarship provides financial assistance to eligible Minnesota students who complete a qualifying secondary school program and are attending a Minnesota institution at a minimum of 15 credits per term. The Point Foundation

The Sallie Mae Fund sponsors several scholarship programs and supports hundreds of college scholarships. All programs are based on financial need, as The Fund seeks to bridge the dollar gap when no one else can. To be eligible for the Sallie Mae Fund scholarship programs, students must be accepted and enrolled as a full-time, undergraduate at a Title IV eligible, accredited, postsecondary, two or four-year college or university, vocational or technical school in the United States or Puerto Rico, and meet program-specific eligibility requirements. This is a nonprofit foundation who is motivated to impact the lives of students and encourage them to continue their educational journey. United Jewish Fund and Council of St. Paul – May, annually

The UJFC offers three annual scholarship funds for undergraduate and graduate students seeking two-year, four-year, or graduate and professional degrees. All Minnesota residents are eligible, although the committee gives preference to St. Paul residents and students attending Minnesota colleges or universities. The goal of this APS scholarship is to increase the number of under-represented minorities obtaining degrees in physics. The program provides financial assistance to students in the counties of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington in the State of Minnesota who have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity and who aspire to pursue higher education.
