Campus Safety Warning - Bicycle Thefts, May 9, 2008

Hamline University Safety and Security would like to advise the Hamline Community of  a number of bicycle thefts. Over the last few days, 5 mountain bicycles have been stolen from Hamline campus.  In most cases the locks were cut by the thief.  Two of the bikes were “Trek” brand and three were “Giant” brand.  All victims have been advised to report these thefts to the police.

Security was able to obtain this surveillance photo of one of the thefts.  The bike was taken from the bike rack at Klas.  The suspect appears to be a white juvenile male, wearing blue jeans, black short sleeved shirt and black baseball cap.

Please secure your bicycles as much as possible and call Safety and Security Services at 651-523-2100 immediately if you observe any suspicious activity or if you observe any abandoned bicycles.  Security officers are paying extra attention to all the bike racks on campus.
