Hamline University

Hamline’s Strategic Plan for 2007-2012 calls for us to “adopt and assess university-wide student learning outcomes across schools, programs, departments and other units to advance a distinctively Hamline experience.”  This charge came from the faculty, staff, and student members of the “Distinctive Teaching and Learning” Strategic Planning Framework, not from administrators or accrediting agencies.

In 2006-07, a core set of university learning outcomes emerged when the members of the “Distinctive Teaching and Learning” Framework aligned each unit’s values and goals for student learning with the needs and demands of the communities in which Hamline graduates serve and lead.  Hamline’s constituencies honed and affirmed these university-level learning outcomes at every stage of the strategic planning process.
