Wesley Mahle Applications for 2010/2011

The Wesley Center for Spirituality, Service and Social Justice is excited to be open the application period for the Wesley and Mahle Scholars program.  The theme of this year is LEAP: Living, Eating And Praying.

We will ask big questions, deep questions, and personal questions.  We will talk about the common good and how we can grow as whole, authentic, faith-full persons.  We will act compassionately and reflect courageously.  We will explore together a variety of multi-faith spiritual practices like walking a labrynith, yoga, simplicity, meditation and keeping a journal.  We will build community together, talk about weekly readings, welcome guest speakers.  This will be a journey inward, and a journey outward!

The Mahle Scholars exists through a generous gift of Stephen and Kathi Austin Mahle called the Mahle Endowed Fund for Progressive Christian Thought.  The Mahle Scholars Program invites undergraduate students to explore the connections between one’s vocation, Christian faith, and the values of spirituality, service and social justice.  Thus, Mahle Scholars will seek out the vitality, relevancy and dynamic character of Christianity, as it can be re-imagined and practiced anew in our contemporary global context.

The Wesley Scholars. Throughout the year we will explore living the ordinary young adult, college experience in an extraordinary way.  Who am I?  What are my goals?  How do I fit my dreams into a reality?  How can I focus on the Me right now and the Me that will be in the years to come?  How do I live in the present, and LEAP, while all my decisions seem to be about my future?

Applications will be accepted beginning March 19th, 2010.  Return the completed application form along with the requested attachments to the Wesley Center for Spirituality, Service and Social Justice by April 16th, 2010.
