HOSTS is an educational program involving community volunteers who mentor students having difficulty in language arts.
The success is due to the hard working students as well as the dedication of the volunteers who unselfishly give their time, energy and love. The Hancock-Hamline's HOSTS program involves 325 community volunteers and over 75 business partners!
Be assured that by Helping One Student to Succeed people make a difference!

History of HOSTS
HOSTS was started in 1971 by Bill Gibbons, a teacher in Vancouver, Washington, who had students struggling with reading and math. Teachers there paired elementary students who needed help with high school students who became their mentors. Before long, the elementary students were improving and their teachers realized the HOSTS Program was a winner for kids.
Today there are HOSTS Programs in many different states, in small towns and large cities, in preschools, elementary schools, middle, junior, and high schools. With one-to-one mentoring for each students, more students have a chance to get the extra help they need.
Thre have been hundreds of thousands of students who have improved in school with the help of their mentors. We are so glad that, you, too, have the chance to Help One Student to Succeed!
