| Rachael Young is one of the best goalies in the MIAC. Competition within the goaltenders should make her even better…In 2004-05, Young played in 19 games, starting 18. She had a season-high 57 saves versus Gustavus on Nov. 19. Young made 44 saves in Hamline’s 3-2 win over Concordia on Jan. 22. She was named All-MIAC first team for the second time if her career…In 2003-04, Young played in 19 games, starting 17. She made a season-high 61 saves versus Gustavus on Jan. 11. She made 35 saves in a 2-1 win over Wesleyan on Jan. 31 and 23 saves in relief to earn the win in a 5-4 victory over Trinity College …As a first-year, Young started 24 of 25 games, logging more than 1,414 minutes in goal. She set a school record with 1,008 saves on the year. Young made 31 saves in her collegiate debut to earn her first career victory 5-4 over St. Olaf on Nov. 9, 2002. She stopped 42 shots in the team’s 1-1 tie with Amherst on Jan. 7, 2003. She holds the school record for saves in a game with 69 versus St. Catherine on Dec. 13, 2002. She was named All-MIAC first team for her performance… In high school, Young played for the Wright County Blades where she was selected Second Team All-State as a senior. Young was also one of five finalists for Minnesota Goalie of the Year… Young will play for the Piper fastpitch softball team in the spring. Young is majoring in sociology and psychology.
