| Athleticism, leadership and work ethic epitomize Laurisa Ewert. She has been a defensive force on the court with her aggressive rebounding. Her versatility and moves inside make her very formidable in the paint...In 2004-05, Ewert started in 22 games. She was first on the team in minutes played (30.3 per game), points per game (16.0), rebounds per game (8.5), steals (72), and blocks (21). She was named All-MIAC first team for her efforts. Ewert led the Pipers in scoring 10 times. She reached double figures in 17 games and topped 20 points on seven occasions. Ewert totaled a career-high 34 points on 15 of 28 shooting against St. Mary's on Jan. 12. She added 24-point performances versus North Central (Minn.) on Nov. 23 and Bethel on Feb. 16. Ewert added five double-doubles on the season. She had 10 points and a career-high 14 rebounds against St. Olaf on Jan. 3. In conference play, Ewert was second in the league with 8.2 rebounds and 2.89 steals per contest...Ewert came to Hamline after transferring from Div. I Rhode Island. With the Rams, Ewert started 19 games as a first-year, averaging 3.7 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game. As a sophomore, she played in all 29 games, averaging 3.4 ppg and 3.6 rpg...In high school, Ewert was an all-state player during her senior season. She was also a three-time all-conference selection in the Northwest Suburban Conference. Ewert was a four-year high school starter and two-time team MVP. She earned the school's 'Athena' Award, given to the top female athlete. She scored more than 1,000 points and grabbed more than 1,000 rebounds during her career...Ewert is a psychology major.
