SO: Simmons played in all 99 games for the Pipers, averaging 4.29 kills per game. She led the team in kills with 425 and digs with 511. She also posted 12 assists, 26 service aces and 32 blocks (four solo, 28 assists) for the season. On Sept. 1, Simmons was named to the UW- Eau Claire All- Tournament Team and on Oct. 6 she was named to the Border Battle All-Tournament Team. She was held to single-digit kills in only four of the Pipers 28 matches, posting 20 plus kills in three of them. The first was on Sept. 22 against Buena Vista with 23, the second on Sept. 22 against Northwestern with 24, and the third on Oct. 12 versus Gustavus Adolphus with a season best of 25. For her efforts, Simmons was named to the All-MIAC First Team. FY: Simmons was named MIAC Rookie of the year after she averaged 2.70 kills per game and 3.76 digs per game in 90 games played. Simmons had double-digit kills in 13 matches and tallied a season high of 21 kills versus Luther College on Oct. 21. She also had 18 kills against St. Thomas on Oct. 18. Simmons recorded double-digit figures for digs in 18 of 25 matches played and reached a season-high of 27 versus Buena Vista on Sept. 2. She also recorded 22 digs in three matches, the first versus Macalester on Sept. 23, the second versus St. Benedicts on Sept. 27, and the third on Oct. 18 against the Tommies. In high school, Simmons was named All-State honorable mention during her senior season. She was her team’s Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year in 2005. Simmons is an international business major. She is the daughter of Samuel and Terresa Simmons. |
