Dana Luiken is a strong, aggressive player who has been one of the Pipers’ more consistent players over the past couple seasons. Coaches expect her to be one of the top players in the conference this season…In 2005, Luiken played in 99 games, amassing 336 kills – good for second on the team. She was second on the team with 88 blocks and added 15 service aces. Luiken posted 20 kills or more in four matches on the season with the Pipers going 4-0 in those matches. Against St. Mary’s on Sept. 30, Luiken hit a career-high 24 kills. She added a 23-kill performance against St. Olaf on Sept. 21. Both of those contest were five-game Hamline wins. Luiken hit .424 with 18 kills in just 33 chances versus Macalester on Sept. 24. Luiken had eight blocks against both Buena Vista (Sept. 10) and St. Mary’s. She served five aces against the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Sept. 9. Luiken was named to the All-Tournament team at the UW-Stout Invitational on Oct. 21-22 …In 2004, Luiken led the Pipers with 223 kills. She posted double digit kills in eight matches on the season. The Pipers were 7-1 in those matches. Luiken posted a season-high 15 kills in Hamline five-game victory over UW-Superior on Sept. 1. She was second on the team with 41 service aces, including a career-high eight versus St. Catherine on Sept. 11. She added a season-high seven blocks (two solo, five assists) versus North Central (Minn.) on Sept. 28. She totaled 69 blocks on the season (19 solo, 50 assists) – second on the team…In 2003, Luiken topped double digit kills in 13 of 27 matches during her first-year season.  She posted a season-high 19 kills versus UW-Superior on Sept. 5 – the fourth game of her career.  In that contest, she had 19 kills in 28 attempts with just two hitting errors for a hitting percentage of .607.  Luiken posted 15 kills and four aces versus St. Olaf on Oct. 18. Luiken had a career-high nine blocks (two solo, seven assists) versus Lawrence on Oct. 25… In high school, Luiken was twice selected all-conference honorable mention… Luiken is physical education major.  She is the daughter of Larry and Marlene Luiken.
