Aly Janzen returns to the Pipers after a successful first season…In 2004-05, Janzen was named Female Rookie of the Year for the Hamline athletic department after a strong run at the conference meet. She took fifth in the 1650-yard freestyle, as well as reaching the “A” finals in two events, taking seventh in the 200-yard butterfly and 500-yard freestyle. Hanson describes Janzen as “an extremely dedicated and intense swimmer whose hard work is an inspiration to the team.”  Janzen was named MIAC Athlete of the Week on Jan. 17 for setting a Concordia pool record and had a season best time in the 1650 free with a time of 18:39.16. Janzen is on Hamline’s all-time top ten list in the 500 free and 1650 free. She was named the team’s MVP…In high school, she finished third in the state in the 500-meter freestyle in 2004. Janzen was a four-year varsity letter winner, four-year all-conference swimmer, most dedicated athlete her first year, and team most valuable athlete and captain in 2004… Janzen is a exercise and sports science and psychology major. She is the daughter of Pete and Lisa Janzen.
