| Rachael Young is a team captain who leads by example. She looks to capitalize on her senior year as a triple threat at the plate. Young also has great range in centerfield… In 2005, Young was named All-MIAC first team after playing 40 games, starting 39 times in center field. She posted a batting average of .464 with 11 doubles, two triples, and a home run. She scored 41 times and drove in 23. Young had 16 multi-hit games and four games of three hits or more. She was 4-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored, and two RBIs against St. Catherine on April 23. She was a combined 6-for-8 with six runs scored and four RBIs against St. Olaf on April 26. She had three hits against Concordia (April 6) and Bethel (April 20). She was also named to the 2005 MIAC All-Tournament team…In 2004, Young was named All-MIAC first team and All-Region third team while playing and starting 42 games. She batted .324 with six doubles, one triple, and two home runs. She scored 30 runs and drove in 25. She posted 14 multi-hit games on the season. Young went 3-for-5 versus Bethel on April 17. She drove in four runs and went 2-for-4 at the plate against Macalester on April 7. She drove in three runs versus both Concordia March 31 and St. Olaf (April 24)… In 2003, Young played in 36 games, starting 31 times. She batted .297 with four doubles and a home run. She scored 24 runs and had 11 RBIs. She had eight multi-hit games. She went 3-for-3 with three runs and an RBI versus St. Olaf on May 3. She was 3-for-4 at the plate against both UW-Stout (April 18) and Carleton (April 25). Young hit her first career home run versus St. Thomas on April 30…In high school, Young was a two-time all-conference selection in the North Suburban Conference. She also earned all-conference honorable mention as a sophomore…Young also plays hockey. Young is a sociology and psychology major. She is the daughter of Annette Christian and Paul Young. | ||
