Jon DeRock is an outstanding offensive talent. He can score off the dribble or moving without the basketball. He has a knack for hitting the big shot, and coaches like his competitive nature…In 2005-06, DeRock played in all 27 games, starting 24 times. DeRock was named All-MIAC first team and All-MIAC First Year. He scored in double figures in 19 games on the season and topped 20 points on six occasions. DeRock played his best basketball down the stretch averaging 19.5 points over his last six games. He tallied a career-high 28 against St. John’s on Feb. 11. He came back 10 days later and dropped 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting versus the Johnnies in the Pipers’ MIAC playoff win. He dished out a career-high nine assists against Martin Luther on Nov. 22. DeRock grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds versus St. Olaf on Feb. 1.…In high school, DeRock was named the All-Journal Newspaper Player of the Year in both his junior and senior seasons. A three-year all-conference selection, he was also selected the Most Valuable Player of the Tomahawk Conference as a senior and was named to the Class ‘A’ All-State Team by the Minnesota Basketball News. In his final season at Buffalo-Lake Hector, Jon averaged 21.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 7.9 assists per game. In a game against Minnesota Valley Lutheran, he finished with a triple-double, totaling 20 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists. During his senior year, DeRock recorded a total of four triple-doubles…DeRock is a physics major. He is the son of Richard and Sandy DeRock. |
