JR: After transferring to Hamline from Orange Coast College, Schmigel played in 7 games for the Pipers. He carried the ball 8 times, gaining 4 yards and losing 18 for a net loss of 14 yards on the season. In the air, Schmigel had 29 pass attempts, completing 12 with 2 interceptions. As a receiver, Schmigel caught 2 passes for 27 yards.

In high school, Schmigel competed in the Desert Sky League, and was an all-area and all-league quarterback in 2002. He was the all-league most valuable player in the same year. In his senior season, he had 1536 passing yard, 7 interceptions and 14 touchdowns.  Schmigel is a criminal justice major. He is the son of Eileen and Bill Schmigel.
