Russ Flaten is a three-year starter on the defense. He is a tremendously hard worker, who coaches expect big things from this season…In 2005, Flaten placed in 10 games and was fifth on the team with 42 tackles (20 solo, 22 assists). He added 7.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and forced a fumble. He had six solo tackles, including three for loss against Carleton on Nov. 12. He posted a season-high seven tackles versus Concordia on Oct. 8…In 2004, Flaten played in 10 games, posting 56 tackles (26 solo, 30 assists) with 2.5 tackles for loss. He was fifth on the team in tackles. Flaten had a career-high 12 stops (four solo, eight assists) versus Augsburg on Oct. 16…In 2003, Flaten made 22 tackles (nine solo, 13 assists).  He added three tackles for a loss for 10 yards including one sack for six yards.  He also has an interception versus Northwestern on Sept. 6…Flaten is a psychology major.  He is the son of Russell and Michaelle Flaten.
