About the Certificate in Public Safety Administration

Certificate in Public Safety AdministrationDrawing upon decades of delivering exceptional theory to practice education for the public leader, the Hamline University Graduate School of Management is offering a Certificate in Public Safety Administration.

The Certificate in Public Safety Administration seeks to prepare firefighters, emergency medical service, emergency managers, and law enforcement personnel to reach the highest level of professional service and leadership.

Who is the Certificate in Public Safety Administration for?

The Certificate in Public Safety Administration is designed for emergency medical service, emergency management, and police and fire working professionals currently in supervisory positions in state or local government.
 

Program at a Glance

The Certificate in Public Safety Administration is designed to: improve interactions with administration; enhance communication with co-workers; develop skills in community service; improve opportunities for promotion; earn academic credit; and articulate personal perspectives on community service.

The Certificate in Public Safety Administration consists of five courses (16 credits total): four 3-credit and a 4-credit captsone course. Participants will advance through training with the same group of peers, commonly called a "cohort." The program is deliberately scheduled to span two calendar years so the cost of certification can be spread over two budget cycles.

Students who complete the Certificate in Public Safety Administration will receive certification from the Hamline University Graduate School of Management. Students may also choose to continue working towards a Master in Public Administration (MPA) degree.
