3. I completed all the correct steps to do the evaluation, but I am getting an error message stating I cannot access the evaluation. What can I do?
Such error message means that the evaluation window for the course has been closed. In general, the evaluation window is open for 4 weeks from the last day of the class. After the evaluation closes for the students, it opens for the instructor for review, thus it cannot be reopened. To complete the evaluation at this point, please download and print the paper format of the evaluation, fill it out, and send it anonymously to the following address:
Degree Completion Coordinator,
Graduate School of Education,

4. I completed the evaluation however I still continue receiving the reminder emails. What can I do?
The reminder email is set up to discontinue when the student completes all the evaluations. Thus, if you are continuing to receive it, it means that:
You still have an evaluation that needs to be completed. Make sure there are no courses in the incomplete column of the evaluation page for the current and last semester;
You did not hit the Submit button at the end of the evaluation to ensure that it gets turned in. Please go back to your evaluation, scroll down and click the Submit button. After a successful completion you should see this note:
CONGRATULATIONS, (your name)!
YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED ALL YOUR EVALUATIONS FOR (term).
THANK YOU!
5. Are the evaluations confidential? Who and when sees the evaluations responses?
The evaluations are completely confidential!!!
The results are seen by the instructor only after all the grades are submitted and the evaluation is closed to the students (generally 4 weeks after the last day of the class). The statistical analyses of the evaluation responses are seen only by the Director of the applicable program and the Dean and only after all the evaluations for the semester are completed. The Dean and the Director of the applicable program have the ability to review the evaluations at any point of the semester.

6. Why should I complete the evaluation? How will my responses be used?
- GSE programs use the data from course evaluations to engage in a robust reflection process. Your feedback is essential in helping us determine the degree to which we are meeting the needs of our graduate students, the profession, and Hamline's mission and vision;
- Course evaluation data are reviewed by faculty and program directors each semester to ensure quality teaching;
- Each student who completes their evaluations are automatically entered into a random drawing to win one of FIVE $100 OfficeMax each Fall, Spring, and Summer semester (TWO winners during the Winter semester).
7. Can I get the evaluation reminders on my personal email address?
Unfortunately, no. Hamline University has a policy requiring all university correspondences be made through the school email address. Thus, the reminder email has to be sent to the Netmail or GroupWise.
8. When and how are the winners announced?
The winners are selected after all the evaluations are completed, which generally occurs 4 weeks after the completion of the semester. The selected winners receive a phone call from the Degree Completion Coordinator as well as an email stating their win. The names of the winners are then announced to all Graduate School of Education students and faculty through a school wide announcement. Moreover, they also become a part of the evaluation reminder email for the next semester.

9. Is the completion of the evaluations mandatory?
The Graduate School of Education does not require its students to complete the evaluations. However, we strongly encourage all the students to exercise their voice by participating in our assessment process. It is in the student’s interest to convey their thoughts and experiences to the Dean to help us continuously improve the program and ensure quality teaching. It is your chance to tell us how we can serve you better!!!
10. In some courses I complete a paper evaluation and in others I complete the online version. Why?
The type of evaluation depends on the course level. If the course is an 8000 or 7000 level (masters, license or doctoral level), it is evaluated through Piperline. The continuing studies level courses (6000 level) receive paper evaluations.
We hope the above provided information was helpful, however if you have any questions or recommendation for further improvements, feel free to contact the GSE Degree Completion Coordinator at 651-523-2195.
Thank you!!!
