
Hamline's K-12 Reading License Endorsement program consists of six required courses, which include three clinical experiences, with a total of 15 semester credits.
Reading License courses are offered on Hamline’s St. Paul campus and at numerous off-campus locations.
Expanded online course options are also available.
The K-12 Reading License Endorsement incorporates Minnesota Board of Teaching standards for licensure, recommended content, and guidelines for effective teaching practice in reading. With a variety of strategies in K-12 student assessment, evaluation and instruction, the program supports a practical, research-based approach to teaching reading, helping teachers get to the heart of what effective reading instruction is all about.
Admission Requirements
Initial teaching license (from any state or country)
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution, with a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0
Graduate Degree Option
Ten reading license credits can be applied to the Master of Arts in Education degree (MAEd). For more information on the MAED program, visit www.hamline.edu/gse/maed
