An additional license can provide new opportunities and options for you in your career. Meet new challenges with new skills.

If you are also thinking of pursuing a Master's Degree in Education, up to 10 credits of graduate-level licensure coursework may be transferred into Hamline's MAED Program.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

There are three basic areas for each additional license. Previous coursework appropriate to the new license area may be used to meet requirements: 

  1. Education courses: offered during the evening to better serve working adults. 
  2. Content courses: specific subject are courses are usually offered during the day at Hamline. Upon admission, you will meet with your advisor. If necessary for your schedule, your advisor may suggest equivalent courses to take in the evening or on weekends at other institutions.
  3. Advanced Practicum: a reduced student teaching experience which may take place in your own classroom if you are teaching full time in your new licensure area.

If you currently hold a teaching license and would like to add another, Hamline offers the following:

Grades 5-8 Specialty
