Certificate in Other Health Disabilities

12 credits

Schools, in Minnesota and across the country, are serving students with an extraordinary range of chronic or acute health conditions. Even relatively mild health conditions can significantly impact academic, behavioral, social or emotional functioning.

  • Gain an understanding of how medications, treatments, therapies, frequent doctor’s appointments and repeated hospitalizations can impact the student’s ability to learn and function at school.
  • Foster collaboration between school, families, medical providers and community resources.

Course content is directly aligned with the areas of competence recommended for educators working with learners with Other Health Disabilities.

Any licensed teacher may apply to the Other Health Disabilities Program, especially those working in special education or related services.
