You are more
than half WATER!
About 2/3 of
our bodies are made of water.
The human body
needs about 2 gallons of water each day to stay healthy (from drinks
and food too).
People can live
for weeks without food, but only a few days without water.
All living things
on earth need water!

Earth: The
"Water Planet"
The earth looks
blue and white from space: the
blue is water and the white is water vapor.
Most (2/3) of
the earth's surface is covered with water.
Although water covers two-thirds of the earth's surface, over 99%
of that water is unusable. The rest of the water? It is either too
salty (97% is in the oceans) or frozen (2% is locked in ice caps
and glaciers.) Less than 1% of the earth's water is available to
be used by humans, plants, and animals.

There is
no "new" water on Earth.
Today, we have
the same amount of water as we did when the earth was formed.
Water moves
from place to place, gets dirty and then gets cleaned. Your community
waters get recycled again and again.
It is estimated
that today, 250 million people are using the same water resources
that 4 million people used only 200 years ago!
