Undergraduate Programs
Are you, or do you want to be, a writer? Can you imagine writing and publishing a book like Holes by Louis Sachar, The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger, Beloved by Toni Morrison, Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, or Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury? If so, consider applying to the BFA program at Hamline University.
The creative writing major leads to a bachelor of fine arts (BFA) degree and prepares students for numerous post-graduate careers. Students will be able to maximize their talents as creative writers; pursue graduate study in creative writing, literature, or any number of select fields (e.g., education, law, business); or seek employment in publishing, professional writing, and other related fields. Those who wish to earn an MFA in creative writing will have a portfolio of original work that will increase their chances of acceptance.
