    CEREMONY INFO

Where will the ceremonies take place? The ceremonies are held on Old Main Mall. The Bush Library steps act as the stage, faculty and graduates are seated directly in front of the steps. There is additional seating to either sides of the faculty and graduates. Bleachers are located behind the ground seating.

How long will the ceremonies last? Each ceremony will last between 1 1/2 and 2 hours.

Where do I go to line up? For all ceremonies (law, undergraduate and graduate), faculty will be lining up on the lower level of Walker Fieldhouse. Event staff will be present to assist with lining up and processing.

What is the Alternate Ceremony Site? The Commencement planners may determine that the Commencement ceremonies may move because of weather or safety issues. All faculty should check the web site or phone lines, regardless of current weather conditions or forecasts. Our alternate site is Hutton Arena.  Guest tickets will be in effect for the undergraduate ceremony only.  Tickets are not required for the law or graduate ceremony.  Faculty will not be issued tickets for their guests should the ceremonies be moved to the alternate location. Please see the alternate ceremony site link on the left side of the page for more information.

    TICKETS

Do we need general seating tickets? Tickets are NOT required for anyone attending Commencement, except for the accessible seating area.  However, tickets ARE required if the undergraduate ceremony is moved into Hutton Arena.  Tickets are not necessary for the law or graduate ceremony regardless of ceremony site.

    BACCALAUREATE

What is Baccalaureate? Baccalaureate is a formal religious multi-faith ceremony to bless our graduates as they leave Hamline University.  The service is led by multi-faith clergy and will feature faculty, staff and students.  The ceremony will be held Saturday, May 18 at 9 a.m. in the Hamline Church, 1514 Englewood Avenue.  Faculty line up begins in the lower level of the church at 8:30 a.m.  Academic regalia is required to process.
