This is My Story, Conversations with Latinos
In recognition of Hispanic Heritage month, this monthly conversation on race and racism features Latinos from the local community to share personal stories about their racial and cultural identities and journeys. This month's panel includes: Frank Hernandez, Director of the Center in Excellence for Urban Teaching; Lupe Castillo, a local activist; and Gloria Contreras Edin, Executive Director of Centro Legal, Inc.

Hamline's Archaeological Dig
Be a part of Hamline's own archaeological excavation! Professor Brian Hoffman and his anthropology class are digging at the site of the former Hamline United Methodist Church, hoping to find artifacts. The community is invited to join in the dig.

Ann Iverson Publication Reading
MFA Alum Ann Iverson will read from her new book of poems, Definite Space. Ann's book traces the emotional journey of her stepson's two tours of duty in Baghdad adn the adjustmetn of a move from a city for rural suburbia. It is forthcoming on September 1st, from Holy Cow! Press.

Safe Zone Training Offered on GLBT Issues
This introductory training session of the Safe Zone training is being offered on issues related to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender awareness and advocacy. This workshop requires a minimum number of 20 participants with registration capped at 40. Registration closes at noon on Wednesday, September 19.

"Thinking Globally, Acting Locally"
Part of the Hamline Dialogue Series "Managing Our Resources: Energy, the Environment and Sustainability". The world and all of its systems run on some sort of energy; energy moves the world. Demand for energy is growing. The ability to meet increasing demands while preserving the environment and managing sustainability are challenges that every system must face. Over the course of seven Dialogues, the Graduate School of Management and Education will bring together experts to address these issues and engage the audience in a dialogue sure to energize and sustain discussion.

Joan Wolf Publication Reading
MFA Alum Joan Wolf will be reading from Someone Named Eva (Clarion Books). Inspired by real events, this fascination novel sheds light on a little-known aspect of the Nazi agenda and movingly portrays a young girl's struggle to hold on to her identity and her hope in the face of a regime intent on destroying both.

Sukkot is the Jewish festival of thanksgiving, celebrating the fall harvest and the Exodus from Egypt, adn reminding us of the frail, temporary nature of life and the material gifts of shelter and food. The Hamline Sukkah will be on the Sorin Mall from Wednesday 9/26 - 10/4. Come decorate the Sukkah!
