Hamline's Archaeological Dig
Be a part of Hamline's own archaeological excavation!  Professor Brian Hoffman and his anthropology class are digging at the site of the former Hamline United Methodist Church, hoping to find artifacts.  The community is invited to join in the dig.

Insisting on Equity: Subverting No Child Left Behind and the Standards Movement
Co-sponsored by the Minnesota chapter of the National Association for Multicultural Education adn Hamline's Graduate School of Education, this is the fourth event in the Insisting on Equity series.  Join educators, students, activists, policy-makers, and others in a panel discussion and open dialogue about NCLB, its contributiosn to educational inequities, and strategies for building equitable and just schools despite an overwhelming standards movement.  Panelists include Sharon Radd, Dean of Students, Central Middle School.

Energy Efficiency: The Greatest Potential
Part of the Hamline Dialogue Series "Managing Our Resources: Energy, the Environment and Sustainability".  The world and all of its systems run on some sort of energy; energy moves the world.  Demand for energy is growing.  The ability to meet increasing demands while preserving the environment and managing sustainability are challenges that every system must face.  Over the course of seven Dialogues, the Graduate School of Management and Education will bring together experts to address these issues and engage the audience in a dialogue sure to energize and sustain discussion.

Carol Muske-Dukes is professor of English adn creative writing at USC.  Her latest book is the novel Channeling Mark Twain.  Carol has received numerous grants, and is the poetry columnist for the Los Angeles Times Book Review.

Graduate Student Health & Wellness Fair
Hamline graduate students are invited to hear guest speaker, Julie Neraas, talk about balancing life, work, and school.  During the fair, there will also be a registered dietician, massage therapist, homeopath, free blood pressure checks.  Flu shots are available to students for a small fee, however free of charge if student carries Hamline student insurance.  Lunch will be served and there will be giveaways.  Please RSVP for the event by Wednesday, October 17 by calling Mildred Bynum.

Flu Shot Clinic for Hamline Students
Hamline students are welcome to receive their flu shot at Counseling & Health Services.  The shot is free for those covered by the Health insurance program through Hamline.  Without this insurance, the cost is $17 and can be paid with cash, check or student account charge.  Counseling & Health Services will be offering flu shots by appointment prior to the first October 23 clinic for those students with chronic illness that are at higher risk.
