First Friday Forum
Graduate School of Management Dean Dr. Julian Schuster presents 'The Current State and the Future of Global Economy--The Impact on the U.S. Economy' Despite the relatively favorable performance of the global economy, the United States continues to face a range of long-term economic policy challenges. The large global imbalances, our current account deficit, and the surpluses that are the counterpart to our deficit need to be addressed. How that process unfolds will depend on a complex mix of factors around the world. Raising the quality of education and exploring ways to improve the safety net are a necessary part of the solution. The political challenges of sustaining support for global economics integration will be more difficult in the United States because of what has happened to the distribution of income and economic insecurity.
