• Master of Arts in Teaching Admission Requirements

    To apply for admission to the Master of Arts in Teaching graduate school program, please submit the following:

    • Online application (no fee for US residents).
    • Official transcript of a bachelor’s degree with a GPA of at least 3.o from a regionally-accredited college or university. This should be sent directly from the institution to Graduate Admission or provided in a sealed, signed envelope. You do not have to supply transcripts for courses taken at Hamline University.
      Note: If you have a GPA of 2.5-2.9, you may apply and be considered for provisional admission. You are encouraged to clearly explain any unusual circumstances leading to academic struggles and underperformance, as well as to share your plans for academic success upon entry into the program.
    • A two-page essay outlining why you have decided to become a teacher.
    • A professional résumé detailing your experience (volunteer or paid) working with children.
    • Two letters of recommendation written by people, unrelated to you, familiar with your academic and/or professional history that detail your specific qualifications to become a teacher.

    Transfer of Credits

    Upon approval, a student may potentially transfer in 50% of their pedagogy courses. Visit Current Students for additional information on how to transfer credits after you enroll in the program.
