  • Applying for a Minnesota Reading License  

     

    Completing the application

    To complete an application for your Minnesota Reading Teaching License, download the application from the Minnesota Department of Education’s webpage at: http://education.state.mn.us/mde/index.html

    • Click on “Teacher Support”
    • Click on “Educator Licensing”
    • In the right column, click on “Licensure Forms”
    • Click on “Application for an Addition to a Minnesota Education License
    • (Teaching/ Administrative/ Related Services).” This is the application that is used to add a field (e.g. reading) to an existing license.
    • Click on the PDF to print the form and complete it by hand.
    • Or Click on the Word document to complete the application on your computer and then print.
    • Note: A copy of your Hamline transcript is not required.

    Mailing the application

    Send your completed application to the Hamline University K-12 Reading
    License Program at the address below:

    Reminder: Do not send your license application directly to the state!

    Along with this application please include the following:

    • A check for $62.70 payable to the ‘Commissioner of MDE’
    • A check for the cost of your work equivalency (only if applicable)

    When Hamline University has processed your license application, we will forward it to the Minnesota Department of Education.

    Please allow 1-2 weeks for Hamline University to process your license application.
    Also, allow an additional 4-6 weeks for the Minnesota Department of Education to
    process your license application. (The time to process your application at the state varies depending upon the time of year.)
