    Application Deadlines

    Application deadlines for the next EdD Cohort (Fall 2015) are: November 15, 2014; February 15, 2015; and May 15, 2015. Students are admitted as applications are admitted so please apply early as a limited amount of students will be admitted.

    Application Process

    Applicants must submit:

    • Online application (no fee).
    • Official transcript of a master degree with a GPA off at least 3.0 from a regionally-accredited university. The transcript must be sent directly from the institution to Graduate Admission or provided in a sealed, signed envelope. You do not need to supply transcripts for courses taken at Hamline University.
    • Statement of your educational aims that specifies how the Hamline EdD will help you achieve your goals (one-two pages).
    • Article, written by you and of at least 10 pages, that demonstrates your ability to synthesize and portray thinking about a critical issue in education.
    • Three letters of recommendation, at least two from instructors familiar with your learning and leadership capacity.
    • Resume demonstrating at least three years of relevant work experience.

    International Students

    International students must submit documentation regarding proficiency in English and financial support for tuition costs and personal expenses. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required of all applicants whose native language is not English, unless they earned a masters degree from an accredited college or university in the United States. The Certificate of Eligibility (I-20) required to obtain a visa cannot be issued until Hamline has a student’s TOEFL results (with a score of 550 or better) and valid documentation of financial support. International students are required to obtain health insurance.

    Transfer of Credits

    Up to eight semester graduate credits taken prior to admission at Hamline or other institutions may be considered for transfer toward satisfaction of elective requirements upon approval. View transfer of credit policy for the EdD Program.
