International Students

Please review the following important information

International students must complete the application and in addition, international students must submit documentation of:

1.  Proficiency in English.  The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required of all applicants whose native language is not English.

TOEFL requirements
For licensure-seeking students:
90 on the internet-based, 233 on the computer-based, or 577 on the paper-based test. A score of 6.5-7 on the IELTS is equivalent to these TOEFL scores.
For degree-seeking students: 107 for internet-based, 253 for computer-based, 625 for paper-based test. A score of 7.5-8 on the IELTS is equivalent to these TOEFL scores.

Official TOEFL scores should be sent directly from the Educational Testing Service to Hamline University. Our school code is: 6265

2.  Ability to pay tuition costs and personal expenses.  Documentary evidence of the amount of financial support available from personal, family, and other resources must be provided.

A certificate of Eligibility (I-20) required to obtain a visa cannot be issued until Hamline has received official TOEFL results and valid documentation of financial support. International students are also required to obtain health insurance through Hamline University before classes begin.
