Secondary Licenses: Physics
The required courses for a 9-12 teaching license in physics and physical science are listed below. All teaching candidates are advised that completion of the program within a four-year time frame requires careful planning. If you seek a license to teach, please seek early advising from the School of Education to plan your program.
An optional general science 5-8 extension may be earned in combination with the physics license.

Physics courses: PHYS 1230 General Physics I PHYS 1240 General Physics II PHYS 3540 Modern Physics PHYS 5900 Junior Seminar (2 semesters) PHYS 5910 Senior Seminar (2 semesters) PHYS 5920 Research Project-Based Advanced Laboratory (2 semesters)
Three of the following courses, one of which must be at 5000 level: PHYS 3520 Physical Optics PHYS 3750 Thermo Dynamics and Statistical Mechanics PHYS 3800 Electronic and Instrumentation PHYS 5930 Theoretical Mechanics PHYS 5940 Advanced Electromagnetic Field Theory PHYS 5950 Advanced Quantum Mechanics PHYS 5955 Advanced Topics in Physics CHEM 3560 Molecular Structure and Spectroscopy
