 Administrative Licensure Program

Tania Chance Administrative License

Educational Leadership

Your interest in earning an administrative license shows a commitment to inspire, challenge, and transform educational organizations at a crucial time in our history.

With our country’s changing demographics, the emphasis on results-based education, and the nearing retirement of so many current administrative leaders, people with vision and skills will be in high demand. The Hamline Administrative License programs have been developed to prepare you for a guiding role in 21st century school leadership.

For education professionals who already hold a master’s degree, Hamline offers three K-12   administrative licenses:  PRINCIPAL, SUPERINTENDENT, DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION.

Hamline's administrative licensure program offers quality instruction blending theory and practice. Hands-on practice will build your experience and confidence in assuming the complex duties involved in administration.

Hamline's competency-based program integrates Minnesota Department of Education competencies with meaningful, relevant leadership content and skills.

Overview
A pre-assessment of previous graduate courses and work experience will help you design a plan to complete the license(s) you seek. You will develop a portfolio that documents expertise in each of the Minnesota state competencies, complete a field experience, and an exit assessment.

Locations
Students may take coursework in Learning Community cohorts when and where it is convenient to do so, or take coursework individually on the Hamline campus. You can expect the supportive and collegial learning environment that is the hallmark of Hamline’s graduate education programs.
