Bella Hanson

Bella had a 30-year career in Adult Basic Education in the Saint Paul ABE program as a teacher and ABE supervisor.  Since her retirement from Saint Paul ABE in 2000, she has been a consultant in adult education. 

She coordinated the Evidence-based Project from 2003 through 2008, with responsibilities to bring evidence-based practice into training efforts in Minnesota.  Activities in this project included coordinating practitioner research with teachers, conducting sessions at local program and regional training activities, and disseminating research briefs (the most recent of which are posted on the ATLAS website).

Bella joined Greta Ploetz and Mary Diedrich (North Hennepin Community College) in Mindquest Academy in 2004, assisting with the three-year Mindquest  Academy pilot with ABE teachers.  She accepted the position of director of Mindquest Academy in 2008.

Bella co-authored with Ben Bryant a history of ABE in Saint Paul and a history of ABE in Minnesota.
