Contact Bella Hanson, the Mindquest Academy Program Director, to sign up for the next six-month training program. Trainings will be provided in the metro area and in northern Minnesota beginning in early October 2008. The training consists of three face-to-face meetings and six online modules.
For Mindquest Academy to be effective with adult learners and to maintain program integrity, teacher training is a basic and necessary component. We developed Mindquest Academy courses with a definite pedagogical perspective in mind. This perspective embraces concepts of constructivism, cognitive development, and individual learner growth as the yardsticks for measuring learning gains and integration of learners’ life experience and prior knowledge.
We have embedded these rich and provocative concepts into course content and assignments. Our training explores these pedagogical ideas and applies them to teaching situations within Mindquest Academy. Teachers practice the strategies they’re learning about, give and observe demonstrations showing how iterative teaching works, and engage in dialogue with each other to reflect upon their practice.
