    Michael Riley '12

    Make Right

Michael Riley ’12 never considered himself a leader. But when he came to Hamline, Riley began to feel part of a community -- welcome and with a sense of belonging, but also with concern for the challenges faced by each member of Hamline’s diverse campus. Michael is now a well-known campus leader and president of Commitment to Community, a student organization dedicated to diversity education and community relations and service.

“Commitment to Community helped open my eyes to inclusion and diversity in a very different way. It showed me that injustice to one group is still injustice to the whole human body. Until everyone is accepted for the person they are, I’ll keep fighting.”

Major: Double majoring in Sociology and English

    Minor: African American Studies

Organizations: Treasurer of PRIDE, C2C External Chair, New Student Mentor, STLF Exec Team, NCORE Team (San Diego)

Career Aspirations: I'm not too sure, something with diversity education.

Interesting Fact: I've been wearing glasses since I've been in third grade, my eyes reject contacts more often than not.
