• Intermediate level language competency in Spanish or Portuguese: four courses or their equivalent 
• Social sciences: three courses
• Literature and the arts: three courses
• LSTD 5000 - Latin American Studies  - must be taken at Hamline
• LSTD 5100 - Contemporary Issues in the Americas - must be taken at Hamline
