Welcome to Hamline's neighborhood!

Small town comfort. Big city diversions.

We are at the cross-roads in your education and "Midway" to all diversions possible.

Choose your direction, put a gallon of gas in the tank, or hop on a city bus to experience the diverse shopping, dining, entertainment, sporting events and sight-seeing opportunities.

To the North: Catch a movie at the 11-screen megaplex cinema at Har Mar Theatre, north on Snelling Avenue, or browse the shops at Har-Mar Mall (including a Barnes & Noble bookstore).

To the South: Capture the unique shopping and dining experiences along Grand Avenue.

To the West: Take a short trip west down University Avenue and you pass through the University of Minnesota, and on to downtown Minneapolis- the Twin Cities entertainment capital.

To the East: Tour east down University Avenue towards more shopping, sporting events, and entertainment opportunities in downtown St. Paul.

You don't need to roam.

There are plenty of affordable shopping, dining, entertainment, and sporting event options in the immediate Hamline University neighborhood, the Hamline-Midway area (and you can't beat the free parking). The Hamline-Midway area has an estimated 700 businesses and a diverse resident population.

Why "Midway"?

The commercial corridors which run along University Avenue connect the two downtowns of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Hamline University, about a half a mile north of University Avenue, is at the center of the neighborhood.

Hamline University founded Hamline-Midway when we moved from Red Wing in the 1880s.  In addition to the university, the area is home to several public and private elementary schools and a handful of parks.

Anticipation of relaxation.

Beautiful Como Park (including Conservatory, Zoo, and Japanese gardens) is just to the north of Hamline University. Stroll around Como Lake, take a paddleboat cruise, or stop to enjoy seasonal concerts at the lakeside pavilion.

Get in the game at Hamline University.

For all of you sports enthusiasts who like a little "minor" mayhem, come see a Saint Paul Saints baseball game. The Saint Paul Saints play their home games at the Midway Stadium, just northwest of Hamline University. Find out more about other Twin Cities sporting events.
