Green Room

The Green Room is at the rear of the building by the Stage Door. The Green Room is 30'-0" from the stage right entrance. No stairs or other obstructions. The Green Room is 20'-0" by 16'-8". The room has a table and seating for 12. The Green Room contains a small microwave, apartment size refrigerator, ice chest, sink and both a coffee and a tea pot. A house phone, intercom, Clear Com jack and video monitor provide show communication. There is a full length mirror in this room but it is not intended to be used as a dressing room. No smoking is allowed in the Green Room.

Stage Manager's Console

The Stage Manager's console is at the rear of the House up a short flight of stairs. The followspot booth is directly above and is reached by a spiral staircase. Audio monitoring is available through the house system and by a special feed from the sound board to the Stage Manager's position. Video monitoring is provided by a fixed position auto-focus camera. Production communication is done through a house phone system and through a two channel Clear Com wired/beltpak system. (4 working positions on stage at any one time).

Rehearsal Room (by special arrangement)

A rehearsal space is available in Drew Hall (next to the theatre) Vinyl dance floor similar to the stage floor. Room size is 45'-0" by 20'-0". No phone link to the theatre.

Crews

A Facility Manager provided by the theatre is a required part of any use of the space. Groups using theatre lighting and/or sound must hire student technicians to operate the boards. Additional technical support as needed is provided by student crews.

Rentals, when classes are in session, must be arranged in conjunction with student class schedules and Departmental needs. Evening technical calls and rehearsals may not run later than 10:30 PM. Crews are required to have a 30 minute lunch break and a 45 minute dinner break when rehearsals or calls run into standard meal times.

Handicapped Access

All audience areas are handicapped accessible without any barriers. There is is powered door into the building and a flat floor entrance into the House. Three wheel chair positions are available just inside this door. These seating positions are in the middle of the house on the stage right aisle. Dressing rooms are one flight down from the stage level. The Control Booth is one flight of stairs above the back of the House. There are no elevators in the complex.

Theatre Policies

The Drew Fine Arts Center is a smoke free facility.

No open flame is allowed on stage or in the House at any time.

All rigging must pass the approval of the Facilities Manager. Please check all rigging needs/plans prior to the beginning of the hang. Batten load limit is 500 pounds.

No painting is allowed on stage except for minor touchup work.

Dancers' rosin cannot be used on the stage floor. Only "Slip-no-more" or a similar approved product may be washed onto the stage floor. Removal of this kind of coating is the responsibility of the rental group or a $45.00 cleaning charge with a two hour minimal fee will be assessed.

No food or drink is allowed in the theatre at any time.

Firearms discharge, smoking on stage or the use of strobe lights requires a posted notice in the lobby.

No signs may be taped to any painted or wood surface. Please use provided display boards and the cork boards available by the Green Room and the dressing rooms.

Alcohol may not be served at any event unless approval is given by the University Facilities Coordinator and a permit is obtained from the City of Saint Paul.

Catering services can be provided by campus food service.

Load-In

The load-in area is at the rear of the building off of Taylor Avenue. The dock is at ground level. All materials must be loaded off the truck and lowered to the ground. A lift gate or ramp is recommended. One semitrailer truck can unload at a time.

Load-In Area

The dock door is 7'-8" tall and 10'-0" wide. The door opens directly into the Scene Shop/ Units can be setup in the shop and then moved on stage. Stage access doors are 22'-0" tall and 12'-0" wide. Units must make a right angle turn across a hall and onto the stage. Units longer than 20'-0" will not be able to make the turn.

Truck and Bus Parking

With advance notice parking near the theatre can be arranged for trucks and busses. A clear access must be maintained to the Scene Shop load-in area for emergency vehicles. During the week after 5:00 PM all lots on campus open for public parking without a permit. No permit is required for weekend parking.
